The live-action adaptation features cast members including Sexy Zone boy band member Kento Nakajima for the role of Takumi Sakagami. Kyoko Yoshine plays Jun, who gets a stomach ache when she tries to speak due to a traumatic childhood experience.
Takumi’s ex-girlfriend Natsuki Nito is portrayed by vocal and dance group E-Girls member Anna Ishii, while ex-high school baseball star Daiki Tasaki is played by newcomer Kanichiro.
Principal photography began on March 14 in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, which serves as the locale for both “The Anthem of the Heart” and “Anohana.”
The film adaptation is directed by Naoto Kumazawa, whose previous works include a live-action film adaptation of the “Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You” manga series.
